Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment is an objective way to help understand a patient’s personality and emotional functioning. The goal is to obtain an accurate diagnosis to help develop an effective treatment plan.  A psychological evaluation may also be required prior to medical procedures that could have a significant psychological impact, such as bariatric surgery or the implantation of a spinal cord stimulator.

This type of assessment typically takes several hours and includes a clinical interview, selected psychological tests, and reviewing patient history. Collateral information may also be obtained from third-parties, if appropriate, and with the patient's permission.
