Personal Injury

Psychologists and neuropsychologists may become involved in legal matters when a plaintiff claims psychological injury or cognitive impairment related to their case. The plaintiff may offer expert testimony to support that claim. Additionally, the defendant may seek to have their own expert examine the plaintiff. In either case, the expert conducts a comprehensive examination of the plaintiff to determine whether there is clinical evidence of psychological injury or cognitive impairment and what data exists to support or refute the claim.  The expert will provide a detailed report of their findings to the attorney that ordered the evaluation and may also be asked to present those findings in court by either affidavit or direct testimony.
