Mary Benton, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Benton will be retiring Fall 2024 and is no longer accepting new patients.
Training and Experience: Dr. Benton obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University. She has had the privilege of serving people with a wide variety of mental health problems for over 30 years, with the last 25+ years as a licensed psychologist. She enjoys engaging in psychotherapy with individuals, couples and groups. She also has extensive experience with cognitive and personality assessment.
Treatment Approach: Whether conducting an assessment or doing psychotherapy, her first and foremost goal is to try to understand the individual before her. "As we come to understand the social, emotional and biological factors that contribute to a problem, we can begin to set goals and decide together how to proceed". She believes in drawing from a wide variety of treatment orientations, depending on individual needs and preferences.
Areas of Interest: While she enjoys working with a wide variety of patients, she has a special interest in anxiety disorders, trauma and dissociation, personality disorders and spirituality.
